Marsai Martin: The Little Girl Making Big Waves

Marsai Martin: The Little Girl Making Big Waves

February 15, 2018

Born August 14, 2004, 13-year-old Marsai Martin is already pretty much an icon. Best known for her role as cutthroat Diane on “Black-ish,” you could also know Marsai as the little girl that sang her heart out to Beyonce’s “Love on Top” but couldn’t quite hit those high notes. (It’s adorable, you should find it and watch it, if you haven’t already seen it.)

Marsai, originally from Plano, Texas, was just five years old when she got a job in a national commercial. And, in 2013, she and her family moved to L.A. Only one year later, she received the role of Diane Johnson, playing the daughter of Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross’ characters.

For this role she has received various nominations and won two NAACP Image Awards and a Young Artist Award.

And this year, it was announced that Marsai was not only case in her first studio film, “Little,” but would also be an executive producer on the film, alongside Regina Hall and Josh Martin. AT 13! THIRTEEN! THIR-TEEN!

This young woman is a force and y’all better not sleep on her. She’s here to shake things up and leave a lasting impression in her career and our hearts.
