Black History Month Day 5: Trayvon Martin

Black History Month Day 5: Trayvon Martin

February 5, 2017

On this fifth day of Black History Month, I dedicate my post to Trayvon Martin. Today, February 5, 2017, he should be celebrating his 22nd birthday but, unfortunately, he’s not. On Feb 26, 2012, just 21 days after his 17th birthday, Trayvon Martin was walking home from a convenience store wearing a hoodie and carrying a bag of Skittles and an Arizona tea when he was fatally shot and killed. Due to Florida’s crap “stand your ground” law, Trayvon’s murderer walked free, even though if his killer had just stayed in his car, Trayvon would most more than likely be alive today.

RIP Trayvon Benjamin Martin. You are loved, you are missed, and you will not be forgotten.
