Amanda Seales: SHE. BE. KNOWIN’.
Amanda “I Be Knowin’” Seales is a comedian, actress, DJ, radio personality, and recording artist.
She emerged from the womb on July 1, 1981 in Inglewood, California. In 1989, she and her family moved to Orlando, Florida where she attended and graduated from Dr. Phillips High School before receiving her bachelor’s degree from State of New York Purchase and her master’s from Columbia from Columbia University with a degree in African American studies with a concentration in Hip Hop.
Her first film role, “Cop and a Half,” came in 1993 as Katy. The next year, she appeared on the beloved Nickelodeon sitcom, “My Brother and Me” as Deonne Wilburn. (I still can’t believe that show was only 1 season, it’s mind boggling.) From there she went on to appear on “Def Poetry Jam” and MTV2 Sucker Free Countdown, where she became known as VJ Amanda Diva.
In 2016 she begin hosting her on show called “Greatest Ever” on TruTV, and she currently has a recurring role on HBO’s “Insecure” as the bourgeois Tiffany DuBois.
Amanda also be singing. She replaced Natalie Stewart on tour with Floetry in 2007. It was also the year in which Amanda released an EP entitled, “Life Experience.” She was featured on Q-Tip’s song “Manwomanboogie” from The Renaissance album. And she released Spandex, Rhymes & Soul in March 2009.
Her first HBO comedy special “I Be Knowin’” dropped January 26, 2019 (and I’m honestly ashamed because I still haven’t had a chance to watch it). Amanda also hosts “Small Doses,” a weekly podcast that you should be listening to.
You can catch Amanda on Instagram serving tea and reading people in her comments for their ignorance. Seriously, Amanda be knowin’.
